Drinks are bad, bread is like dry leather. Malaysian woman at cashier is very rude—what’s so good about this branch? Will never visit this branch again.

Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Aperia Mall preserves Singapore's beloved breakfast traditions in the innovative mixed-use development, located at 12 Kallang Avenue #01-33 between Lavender and Bendemeer MRT stations. This iconic coffeeshop chain, established in 1944 with 75 years of heritage, serves authentic Singaporean kopitiam culture through the same humble fare of eggs, coffee, and toast made with proprietary kaya recipe that has remained unchanged since inception. Operating within Aperia's convenient business and retail environment, Ya Kun provides both local residents and visitors with access to Singapore's most traditional breakfast experience, widely regarded as a cultural institution that the Singapore Tourism Board actively promotes as an essential tourist attraction representing authentic local dining heritage.
The signature dining experience centers around the classic Kaya Toast Set featuring four pieces of traditional toast with Ya Kun's secret light green kaya jam and butter slab, accompanied by two soft-boiled eggs and choice of hot coffee or tea, creating the complete Singaporean breakfast ritual that has defined morning routines for generations. The authentic preparation involves toasting bread over charcoal fires when possible, spreading generous amounts of kaya coconut jam and cold butter, then serving alongside perfectly soft-boiled eggs seasoned with dark soy sauce and white pepper that customers mix and use as dipping sauce for the toast. This traditional eating method creates the distinctive flavor combination of sweet kaya, rich egg yolk, and subtle saltiness that represents the quintessential taste of Singapore's kopitiam culture.
Aperia Mall's strategic location provides convenient access to Singapore's most authentic breakfast experience for both local workers seeking familiar comfort food and international visitors discovering genuine Singaporean culinary traditions. Ya Kun's commitment to maintaining original recipes, preparation methods, and service styles ensures customers experience the same quality and authenticity that has sustained this household name across three generations of Singapore families. The restaurant's integration within Aperia's modern retail environment creates unique opportunities for combining traditional breakfast experiences with contemporary shopping and business activities, making Ya Kun an essential stop for anyone seeking to understand Singapore's culinary heritage and kopitiam culture in one of the city's most accessible and well-connected locations.

Hardly any butter and Kaya in the bread. Not like other branches that give a thick slice of butter. Very disappointing. No wonder people are now flocking to Nanyang Dao.

This was my haunt for many years until I encountered a hitch today. The eggs I received were a little too raw, more so than usual. I requested them to be cooked a bit longer; the lady at the counter said okay, but that I needed to time the cooking myself. I found this a bit ridiculous, given that I wouldn't know how long the eggs had already been cooked, and usually the eggs are consistently cooked to the same level of doneness (as seen in pictures others have posted). I saw another lady’s eggs at the table next to mine. I was quite disappointed with the poor service and rudeness, and won't be coming back.

Still my favourite Kopi. Smooth and thick… 👍 This place **is less crowded** and **has a** bigger space for bigger **groups** of people.

It's a fine kaya toast franchise in Singapore. They have good crackers as well.

Still a very good breakfast place for kaya toast. I ordered milk tea, but they gave me coffee. It tasted okay. The only thing that wasn't good was the presence of too many cockroaches everywhere. If you think my review is useful, please give me a like.

One of my favourite Yakun stalls, as it is big enough, easy to find a seat, and can also cater to bigger groups. Aperia Mall offers 3 hours of free parking on weekends and PH, so I always chill out here with my family on weekends. We can sit for a long time and chit-chat, without worrying about others waiting for seats. After that, we can do some grocery shopping at Cold Storage before heading home.

Yummy local breakfast. So simple: toast, butter, runny egg, pepper, soy, and jam, yet so yummy! Good price too! Coffee pairs well.

Just like every other Ya Kun, this one is no different. I wouldn't intentionally come all the way here, but if I'm in the area and need a coffee boost, this is definitely a safe option. It's located on the ground floor, and it has a sitting area that's quite big. You shouldn't have any issues finding a space to meet friends or just to have a quick local kopi and breakfast in the morning.

A bona fide Singapore icon, known for their local coffee and toast. This outlet in this mall is always crowded, although Luckin and Starbucks are also present.

Came here on a weekend morning, found a space quite quickly for two people. The best part about this mall is really the 3-hour free parking :) Ya Kun always suits my tastebuds. Comfortable space to eat in, open concept, and the food is quite standard across all outlets. You return your own trays after eating.

It's Ya Kun, the original Kaya toast Singaporean breakfast experience! If you’ve never had it before, have it at least once. Box ticked. Ordered a steamed version as well as the toasted version, with Kaya and a thick slab of butter. With a slab of butter that thick, it can’t not be delicious! But I must say it’s slightly too rich for me. The egg was fine. Good if you like your eggs on the almost-too-runny side. I added too much soy sauce - but that’s my bad. And also got coffee, which is on the strong side but great for waking me up! Yes to the air-conditioned environment!

I loved every aspect of the meal. Coffee was strong but a bit too sweet for me. Simple ingredients, but very filling. An absolute must-try breakfast when you’re in Singapore.

We stopped here for tea and coffee before going to the Thai market. The service and taste were good, consistent with Yakun's standard, but the bread looked a bit burnt.

This place is at a corridor junction, a good location. This Ya Kun stall installed a few ceiling fans, which is very considerate. There are many seats, which is good for lunch hours.
